Cambridge in Lockdown

Cambridge in Lockdown CollectionCan you help?

Cambridge Museum is seeking donations of items that reflect
the ways COVID-19 has impacted and changed your lives in our area of Waipa.

The pandemic has been a pivotal point in our history.

Future generations will want to know what it was like living in Cambridge during these times.

Have you any of the following items?

Pictures: photographs, drawings and other artworks that portray life in a bubble.

Writing: diaries (digitally recorded or analogue) that describe the “new normal” of daily life during this
time. Postcards/ letters/emails that reflect how people connected with one another during forced separation.

Signs/Leaflets/Posters: public responses to COVID-19. We are interested in any handmade signs placed in windows and official communication received in your letterbox.

Everyone has a story. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few ideas to get you going:

  • In what ways has your life changed since the outbreak of COVID-19?
  • Was living in your bubble what you thought it would be?
  • If you could describe one event that sums up life in lockdown in Cambridge what would it be?
  • Has the pandemic changed how you feel about where you live?
  • What are your hopes for Cambridge after COVID-19?

How to share your Lockdown experiences

Please email photographs of the offered material and any information about the item’s use and its significance to admin@cambridgemuseum.org.nz.

We will not be able to accept all proposed donations as we must take into account existing holdings, and the object’s relevance to our Collection Policy.

What will happen to this Collection?

Any submitted works may be publicly viewed under a CC-BY license held by the Cambridge Museum and Historical Society. Submitted works may be selected for permanent retention by the Cambridge Museum and Historical Society under an open access licence held by the Museum and under the terms of their collection policy for future preservation, research or display purposes.
