Eight Carat
-
In the world of horse breeding there are an elite group of broodmares who create a true international dynasty. One such mare is Eight Carat who became the most influential broodmare in Australasia during the second half of the 20th century. She became the prized jewel of the Cambridge Stud broodmare band.
Without question the deeds of Eight Carat have been phenomenal. She was New Zealand Broodmare Of The Year in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Her progeny became household names in racing – headed by 10 times Group One winner Octagonal – who has now become a successful sire in his own right – and backed up by other Group 1 winners Mouawad, Diamond Lover, Kaapstad and Marquise.
Eight Carat has left her own dynasty through her sons and daughters which will ensure her name is to the forefront of the breeding and racing industry for many years to come.
