Joelle King is a Commonwealth Games Champion squash player.  She is one of New Zealand’s most decorated Commonwealth Games athletes having won an impressive six medals.

She won her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour title in 2008 at the North Island Championships and followed that up with three further titles a year later, among which is winning the Australian Women’s Open played at Clare, South Australia.

2010 was a good year for King who won the prestigious Texas Open and claimed gold and silver medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

She was elevated into the world’s top 10 for the first time in 2011.  She moved into the top five while claiming the Macau Open in 2012.  She won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

During the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, King won the gold medal in the women’s singles event, gold in the women’s doubles (alongside Amanda Landers-Murphy) and bronze in the mixed doubles (alongside Paul Coll), making these her most successful Commonwealth Games.

King won her first platinum event on the PSA tour at the 2018 Hong Kong Squash Open.  She has won the New Zealand Nationals seven times.  She reached her highest world ranking at no. 3 in February 2019.
