Jenner
-
In the early 1980s the top trotter in New Zealand was Jenner. From the start of his career the well-bred son of Game Pride was dominant over his peers and earned the title of trotter-of-the-year for his age group as a 2, 3 and 4 year old.
As a two-year-old he blazed his way to a world record over 2200m for his age group from a standing start when recording a time of 3:09.9. As a three-year-old he won the New Zealand Trotting Stakes by six lengths and in a time trial at Alexandra Park in May, 1981, he shattered Halberg’s longstanding record for three-year-old trotters.
He finished a gallant second in the 1983 Inter dominion Trotters Grand Final at Alexandra Park behind the all-time great Scotch Notch. His best wins included the 1984 Rowe Cup. He managed to win a race every season from 2 years of age until his retirement as a 11-year-old.
