
Rob Waddell

In 1998 at the age of 23 Rob Waddell became the Single Sculls World Champion, retaining his title the following year before claiming a gold medal in the same discipline at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
He received an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to rowing in 2001.
Rob became the head of New Zealand Commonwealth Games teams in 2014 and 2018. For his outstanding contribution to an Olympic or Commonwealth sport he won the Lonsdale Cup in 1998 and 2000.
Waddell has served on the Athlete Commission of the New Zealand Olympic Committee.
