Sir Tristram
    -

Commenced stud duties at Cambridge Stud, Cambridge 1976, the sire of 45 individual Group I winners and progeny earnings of close to $A50 million.  Sir Tristram has re-written the record books of Australasian racing and breeding. His superb deeds as a sire created new levels of success and recognition for New Zealand in the world of racing & breeding. Sir Tristram was instrumental in Cambridge Stud, operated by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, becoming one of the leading thoroughbred nurseries in the Southern Hemisphere. In 1975 Cambridge Stud imported Sir Tristram, a son of English Derby winner Sir Ivor. Sir Tristram was not highly rated on race performance and few people were prepared to support when he first arrived in this country. However, he soon started siring the winners and that a string of Gr. 1 winners and high stakes-earners saw him without peer in the Australian sire ranks at the height of his stud career.

Sir Tristram’s is buried at Cambridge Stud.
