Zabeel
-
Commenced stud duties at Cambridge Stud, Cambridge 1991 Zabeel inherited all the wonderful qualities of his famous sire, legendary stallion Sir Tristram. Sir Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud said he always felt there was no other horse which resembled Sir Tristram as closely as Zabeel. “Zabeel was like a spitting image of Sir Tristram from the moment he was born,” Sir Patrick said. Zabeel was a top-class galloper scoring at Group I level in the Cadbury Australian Guineas and also being successful at group level in the Moonee Valley Stakes, Alister Clark Stakes and Craiglee Stakes. Zabeel commenced stud duties at Cambridge Stud in 1991 and made an immediate impact as the sire of champion galloper Octagonal who won a multitude of Group One races in Australia. Zabeel has been champion sire of Australia and New Zealand (combined) on eight consecutive occasions (1995-96 to 2002-03, 2003-04). Zabeel became the leading sire of Group I winners in Australasia.
