Pukekura and Maungatautari

‘Time was when cultivation was chiefly limited to portions of Pukekura nearer Leamington, but as the years have passed the older residents have seen the bush-clad slopes of Maungatautari give way to the greener hue of pasture. Much has been accomplished during the past twenty years, but it is to such families as the Allens, Seabrooks, Bridgman, Hicks, Vosper, Atkinson, Hall, Nickles and others, that the districts of Pukekura, Maungatautari and adjoining country owes its foundation.’
