You are invited to the Cambridge Historical Society Incorporated’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on  Thursday 20 November 2025 at 7pm.

The meeting will be held at at the Cambridge Bridge Club on Fort Street, and we would be delighted if you would join us. (Directions here)

This is a wonderful opportunity to come together, reflect on the Society’s achievements over the past year, and discuss plans for the future. Your presence and input are highly valued, and we look forward to your participation.

Please note that the Committee has co-opted Stephen Schollum, a member of the Historical Society, to act as Chair while the Society is currently without a President.

The AGM will be followed by a talk titled Reel Conversations: Stories from Cambridge Filmmakers Matt Hicks and Andrew Johnstone. 

Actor, director and producer Matthew Hicks (The Tavern) and journalist, filmmaker, and Waikato cow Whisperer Andrew Johnstone (When the Cows Come Home) will share their experiences of capturing Cambridge on film from the bustle of the town centre to the farming landscapes of Fencourt.

Through stories, discussion, and behind-the-scenes insights, discover how film can preserve history, spark conversation, and celebrate our community.

Call for Committee Nominations

At the AGM, we will be voting in the 2025/6 Committee.

If you are interested in becoming a committee member, we’d love to have you on board. It is a fantastic way to give back to the community, meet new people, and gain a deeper understanding of the fascinating histories of the Cambridge area. (Read more about the roles here)

Please consider putting nominations forward for the following positions:

  • up to seven (7) Committee members

You can nominate yourself or another member of the Historical Society for any position on the committee. Collect nomination forms at the Cambridge Museum front desk, or download them here. Once completed, either return them to the Museum or email them to Jo at secretary.cbhs@gmail.com.
