G E Clark bowling in Cambridge in the 1920s

Cambridge Bowling Club

Keeping Your Eye on the Bowls

All ages have been playing bowls here for 125 years. Cambridge Bowling Club was the first bowling club in the Waikato when it was formed in 1898.

The aim of the game is to get your bowls as close as possible to the white ball called a “Jack”. It might sound easy, but the bowls are weighted on one side. They do not travel in a straight line which adds to the challenge.

Come in and explore our exhibition celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Cambridge Bowling Club.
